Quilici Fire burns roughly 300 acres near Verdi, I-80 closed near NV-CA state line

 

Evacuations are underway after a car fire quickly spread to nearby brush along Interstate 80 near the Nevada-California state line.

Residents shaded in the red on Quilici Ranch Road on the map below are being urged to evacuate. If you are in need of a place to go to escape the fire, you can go to the Northwest Library at 2325 Robb Drive.

As of about 8 p.m. on Sunday, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue estimated the Quilici Fire burned roughly 300 acres, but added progress was being made.

All eastbound traffic on I-80 is currently being rerouted onto SR-267 as crews battle the blaze. Westbound traffic is unaffected.

A plume of smoke can be seen to the west across the Truckee Meadows.
